Emma in the Snow

I wrote my contribution to Sarah Elmsley’s ‘Emma in the Snow’ on ‘Emma’ and patriotism, especially the passage which describes the heroine looking out on the English landscape, thinking with such satisfaction about all she sees. I have always found the passage both moving and troubling. How should we interpret it? Are these her thoughts/ Jane Austen’s/ the narrator’s, all of them, none of them alone?
